Here at West Cornwall Women’s Aid, we have a dedicated Community Services team who deliver a range of support and information services for women and children who have experienced domestic abuse and/or sexual violence; current or previously. Our services are run ‘by women for women.’
We have our own community building in central Penzance called Maura Place. Women and children can come to Maura Place or can be met in a safe place in the community.
We aim for our services to be trauma informed which means we promote a culture of safety, empowerment and healing. All of our staff are trained to understand the ways that the trauma of abuse can impact women and children, in the short and long term.
This is for any woman affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence present or past. Helpline hours are 10.00 - 15.00 Monday - Friday but we also have a 24-hour voicemail. Our specialist team of female staff and volunteers are experienced and specifically trained to understand domestic abuse and/or sexual violence and the impact it has on you and your children. Whether you need help, advice or simply want someone to talk to, we'll listen, understand and help you find a way through. If you want to leave your abuser, we can assist you to find safer accommodation for you and your children. This can either be in a refuge or another safe place.
Sometimes our line maybe busy and your call might be taken by our answer machine. This means that we are dealing with other calls so please do leave us a message and we will always call you back as long as you leave us a safe contact number in your message. When we call back, our number will show up as withheld. This is for safety reasons. You can also contact us using our contact form on this website.
