As well as the work we do on an individual, one-to-one basis, we also offer trauma informed support packages for children and families. This is available both to families in refuge and to those who have resettled in the community. We tailor what we do to the needs and requirements of each individual family.
The programme of work runs during term time and includes:
Once you have left refuge will offer you an individual support package based on your specific needs.
Mums/carers will receive individual sessions with your Resettlement Worker. Children and young people will be offered support to help with the transition into the community. In addition, they will be offered on-going, longer-term support as required. This will be delivered by their existing refuge worker or by referral to our Community Children/YP worker.
During the school holidays we provide a separate planned programme of work, including family trips for those who are living in, or have just left refuge within the last year and ongoing children only trips. The aim of the trips is to support family cohesion, help create positive memories and encourage fun.
We also provide specialist group sessions for children in our local primary school – referrals are made via the school.
All our CYP workers are TIS (Trauma Informed Schools) trained (or working towards this) and are able to offer an extensive range of interventions to support children and young people to recover from trauma.
